Szabolcs Béres by Drifting.hu

Szabolcs Béres is the man who stores a little tire smoke in a jar for the cold winter days to pull through the drift-free months. Now get to know him better....
RiKA: When did you get devoted to this tire smokey drift world?
Szabolcs Béres: When I saw the premiere of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift in the cinema in 2006. By the end of that week I arrived to „Autógyula” at Tököl with a half day old Mazda Rx7 (I bought it that morning, 1981 seria btw.), which was the same as my regular car, which is considered nowdays to be a veteran as it is from 1979.
RiKA: In which ways has drift as a sport changed, compared to the outset?
Szabolcs Béres: The cars are stronger and „prettier”, also the improvements of the drivers are much faster. The speed of the drift cars on the tracks exceeded, thanks to this the spectacle is more kicking. Of course, thanks to all these improvements, the level of the competition continued to increase!
RiKA: Why did you decide to organize drift competitions?

Famous drivers: Pawel Trela
Famous Europen drivers: Pawel Trela
If we go a few years back in time, You might smile about Central European drift life. Maybe You were right, because if You saw the Western countries, especially the UK, they start earlier and get far soon. Nowadays we have the proof, there is nothing to shame here in the Eastern site. Not the Hungarians, nor our Polish friends, so do the undoubted star, Pawel Trela.

Drift Grand Prix Bucharest

A little more than 4 weeks ago, a promotion started under the tags Drift, GP, Bucharest and JDM/Drift Allstars. We all were curious about any information, but one thing was sure, we will go there! All rumors were declared, it will be a JDM/Drift Allstars event organized by the help of 4tuning.ro and probably Bucharest city as well. On the events page the drivers list was really impressive, more and more drivers confirmed day after day. Highlighted UK and Irish drivers, the Poland army, the crazy Finn guys followed by the Hungarians, teamed up with Slovakia, along the Swiss brotherhood, the Serbian Champ and not to mention Bulgaria and Romania itself already sounds a good battle for the title.
Then came the plan, what we hardly believe. 2 main streets of Bucharest were closed, and the track starts the House of the Parliament. 2 facts you cannot neglect. Bucharest is the 6th biggest city in Europe, which means 3 million people surrounded us during the event. Most of them rerouted, but still many will come and make this event probably the biggest we have ever seen. And not to forget, the Palace of Parliament or locally called Casa Poporuili is the second largest building in the world, but no bigger than this in Europe. If you are getting closer, it makes even greater. Even it is elevated by a hill, the word huge cannot describe the building itself.

Hell Energy Drift Hungary 27th August

The 4 Round of the Hell Drift Championship in Hungary was programmed to take place on the 27th of august, on the RabocsiRing racing track in Mariapocs. This round was going to be part of the Triple Night Series Mini-Cup that was being organized inside of the championship. Going into his 4th round of the season, Geza Toth and his V8 powered E36 were leading the championship, with Varga Tamas, the Hell Energy Drink driver, in 2nd place. But the news was not so good for “Puci”, as everyone knows him, because his Hell Energy V8 powered BMW E30 was not available for the race, as it had suffered an accident prior to the event. This meant that other drivers from the championship would have had the opportunity of getting higher in the rankings with the occasion of this round. Also, some threat could come from the rather large group of Romanian drivers that announced their presence to the event , no less than 6 of them, out of which 3 were regular drivers in the King of Europe series and could have provided with an upset for this race.
As usual, Friday was reserved for training session, and everyone had their opportunity of getting reacquainted with the track, testing out new modifications brought to their cars and so on. There were quite a lot of people that were interested in seeing the Romanian from Grav Drift Team, Calin Ciortan test out his new machine: a BMW E30 that has lost some considerable weight in the past year, and that has exchanged it’s old M5 E39 V8 engine for something a bit more interesting. The new engine is coming from a BMW M3 E46, and is fitted with a rather large turbo that develops almost 500 horsepower running at only 0.6 bars of boost. Even from the first runs of the car, it seemed like a very fast and powerfull machine indeed, but Calin still needed to get used to the car, as he hasn’t driven it for over one year now.>>>>
